Here's the conclusion:
If the argument in favor of human embryo research is to be based on the notion that embryos are not like us, then it is imperative for advocates of the research to explain precisely how the embryos are not like us in ways that do not jeopardize our own exemption from being used as raw material in research projects. Otherwise it appears that the advocates favor proceeding with the research "just because we can," which, as former President Clinton recently told us in his autobiography, is the worst of all possible reasons.
