Sometimes things just work out

I don't think we can let today pass without recognizing the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito Jr. to the Supreme Court. After the Miers nomination failed to appeal to, well, anyone, I think conservatives should be very happy with this pick. President Bush made it clear (this time) that excellence is THE most important qualification for an appointment for the Supreme Court, if that court is to fulfill its proper function, rather than serve as a quasi-representative super-legislature.
As to Ms. Miers, I think she handled things very gracefully and am sure she will continue to serve the President well as Counsel to the President.
