One year has elapsed since Pope John Paul II's passing. I don't really have anything important or original to say here (what else is new?) except that I do wish some people would cool it on the whole push for sainthood. Look, I was a fan, and he was without a doubt a great leader for the church, but changing the rules just to attach the title faster seems a little foolish. Anyway, Peggy Noonan wrote a column
on the Pope and communism right after his death last year, definitely worth reading, Catholic or not.
